Medical Qigong Seminar #1.P
Introduction to Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy
32-Hours - 5 Days


This is an introductory Medical Qigong Course consisting of 32 hour (6.5 hours a day for 5 days). There are no prerequisites for this instruction. The textbook “Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy: A Comprehensive Clinical Text” will be used throughout the course for subject material. All Medical Qigong training courses are offered through the Healing Qi Institute..

Introduction to Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy (Course 1.P)

This first course is designed to introduce students to the basic theories of energy cultivation.Students will be taught the basic theories of Energy Cultivation, Three Regulations of Medical Qigong Therapy, Emotional Detoxification, Energizing the Three Dantians, Strengthening the body’s Protective Energy Field, Diagnosis and Energetic Modalities, Developing Energetic Sensitivity and Perception skills, increasing Energetic Projection skills, increasing Energetic Diagnostic skills, and introduction to Clinical Applications, Diagnosing and Treating Problems of Energetic Deviations, and Establishing a Medical Qigong Clinic.

This first course will concentrate on building a comprehensive foundation of esoteric energetic medicine with a focus on Medical Qigong therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Five Days - 32 Hours

Day 1 (9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.)

• Introduction to Medical Qigong:
Energetic Embryological Development, Energetic Anatomy and Physiology; Dredging the Body’s Yin and Yang Channels; Wuji Posture and 1-through-4 Meditation.
Reading Assignment: All of Chapters 1 and 2 (pages 3-50); Chapter 10 ( pages 225-230);and Chpater 29 (pages 504-505)
• Purging and Dredging Stagnant Qi Exercises:
Counter Swing, Dropping Post, and Trembling Horse; Natural Breathing; Beating and Drumming the Qi Meditation
Daoist Five Yang Organ Exercise:
To Tonify and Regulate the Peristaltic Action of the Digestive System; Proper Posture, Breathing and Mental Concentration for Tonification Exercises.
Reading Assignment: All of Chapter 14 (pages 313-315); Chapter 15 (pages 321-334); Chapter 16 (349-357); Chapter 17 (359-365) and Chapter 42 (709-710)
• Introduction to the Daoist Five Yin Organ Exercise:
Opening and Strengthening the Spine and Central Nervous System;
Reading Assignment: Chapter 42 (pages 711-722)

Day 1 (2:00-5:00 P.M.)
The Daoist Five Yin Organ Lung Exercise:
Relationship to Po (Corporeal Soul); Congenital and Acquired Emotions; Tonification Exercise; Traumatology (Relieving Diaphragm Spasm).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 2 (pages 33, 36 and 46-48); Chapter 13 (pages 296-297); and Chapter 42 (712-713)
• The Daoist Five Yin Organ Kidney Exercise:
Relationship to Zhi (Will); Congenital and Acquired Emotions; Tonification Exercise; Traumatology (Relieving Insomnia).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 2 (pages 34); Chapter 13 (pages 298); Chapter 42 (713-714); and Chapter 39 (pages 653-655)

Day 2 (9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.)
The Daoist Five Yin Organ Liver Exercise:
Relationship to Hun (Ethereal Soul); Congenital and Acquired Emotions; Tonification Exercise; Traumatology (Discharging Anger Exercise).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 2 (pages 33, 37 and 45-46); Chapter 13 (pages 292-295); Chapter 42 (pages 714-715); and Chapter 53 (pages 848-850)
• The Daoist Five Yin Organ Heart Exercise:
Relationship to Shen (Spirit); Congenital and Acquired Emotions; Tonification Exercise; Traumatology (Relieving Cardiac Arrest).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 2 (pages 33, 35); Chapter 13 (pages 295-296 and 298-310); and Chapter 42 (pages 715-717)

The Daoist Five Yin Organ Spleen Exercise:
Relationship to Yi (Intellect); Congenital and Acquired Emotions; Tonification Exercise.

• Ending The Daoist Five Yin Organ Exercise:
Turtle Exercise; Gwan Gong Stroking Beard (Microcosmic Orbit Meditation).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 42 (pages 719-722); and Chapter 41 (pages 678-681)

Day 3 (9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.)
• Healing Sounds For Emotional Detoxing Exercise:
Old Man Searching for the Reflection of the Moon at the Bottom of the Tide Pool.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 40 (pages 666-668)

Lunch Break (12:00-1:30 P.M.)

• Six Healing Sounds Exercise (A):
The Six Healing Sounds: Purging and Detoxifying the Liver, Heart and Spleen Organs.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 40 (pages 657-663)
• Six Healing Sounds Exercise (B):
The Six Healing Sounds: Purging and Detoxifying the Lungs, Kidneys and Triple Burners.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 40 (pages 663-668)

Day 4 (9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.)
• The Golden Ball Exercise:
Regulating The Body’s Eight Actions of Qi: Rise-Fall, Expand-Contract, Flow In-Flow Out, Gather-Disperse.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 13 (pages 273-283)

Lunch Break (12:00-1:30 P.M.)

Ren Wu Zang Meditation to Prevent the Invasion of External Pathogens:
Shengong Meditation (Wu Zang - to strengthen the body’s energetic field in order to protect the healer from the invasion of pathogenic factors).
Reading Assignment: Chapter 28 (pages 530-533)

Day 5 (9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.)
• How to Analyze and Categorize Qigong Exercises:

How to Analyze and Categorize Qigong Exercises; A Basic Introduction to Medical Qigong Prescriptions; Establishing a Personal Medical Qigong Workout.
Reading Assignment: Chapter 38 (pages 641-648)
